Give a little,
and take a little,
but hold nothing
as though it were yours.
Let go,
for even the hands of time
cannot keep what life
has only lent them.
Do not belittle the smallness of a spark,
for the sun, too,
was once a flame
hidden in the womb of darkness.
And when the clouds veil the light,
and the hills of time
stand between you and the horizon,
know that the sun has not departed;
it is only beyond your sight.
From a spark, life awakens,
and to a spark,
it shall one day surrender its breath.
Do not grieve the flame
for returning to the fire,
nor the wave
for dissolving into the sea.
For what is born
is already on its journey,
and what departs
has never truly been lost.
