The true meaning of political parties is that they are formal organizations consisting of citizens who have come together based on shared views, interests, political, economic, and social goals, or a unified program. The main purpose of these organizations is to gain political power through elections or any legal means, in order to implement their programs, participate in public decision-making, represent voters, and guide public opinion, so as to serve the stability of the country and society in accordance with the constitution.
In the political arena of any country, numerous political parties with different ideologies compete and work to promote and protect stability. The Kurdistan Region has not been an exception; there are many different political parties working with various ideas. It is clear that every side, with all its awareness and reality, and at the same time with its own negligence and faults, considers itself a guardian of the nation and the country.
At this stage, Kurdish society has split into two different opinions regarding these parties:
The First Side: Those who have chosen blind and boundless partisanship. In any situation, this group blindly demonstrates its readiness and loyalty to its party and is unwilling to criticize its shortcomings. This boundless loyalty causes national love to be imprisoned within the narrow framework of partisanship, the result of which is nothing more than division and a field full of factionalism.
The Second Side: Those who express discontent. This segment views political parties and their supporters as the product of negligence and a misguided direction, and therefore has distanced itself completely from any civic or partisan activity, isolating itself entirely. However, complete silence or merely useless complaints without any effort to find a solution is an ignorant and blind discontent that will never become a proper effort for building the country.
Nation-building is achieved neither through blind partisanship nor empty complaints, but rather through strong and correct national thought, ideology, and sentiment. Every political party is composed of a group of individuals from this society, with all their truths and faults. Partisan loyalty never reaches the level of national loyalty; rather, parties are merely tools to serve the people.
